A composer, researcher, educator, and Artistic Director of Intertidal Ensemble, Isabel’s creative vision is centred on collaboration, intercultural dialogue, and collective artistic creation. Her work brings together performers, composers, visual artists, students, and communities, grounded in the belief that meaningful artistic experiences emerge through working together towards a shared purpose.
Drawing from her international artistic and academic background, her practice explores the intersection of Eastern and Western musical traditions, contemporary performance, music technology, and visual arts. She is particularly interested in creating spaces where different cultural perspectives can interact naturally, encouraging curiosity, empathy, and new forms of creative exchange.
Visual thinking plays an important role in her work, especially through graphic scores, alternative notation, and interdisciplinary performance practices. These approaches invite performers to become active collaborators in the creative process, expanding interpretation and communication beyond traditional musical structures.
Her artistic practice also informs her teaching, where she encourages experimentation, reflection, and collaboration as essential tools for artistic and personal growth.
